On 18 August 2016, Shave & Gibson turned 35 years old. What a ride, what a blast! Neville Shave and I were articled clerks at the time, doing the audit of the old Rydal Mount Hotel on Durban’s beachfront. Neville and his brother-in-law, Alan Gibson, set up their new company and bought little Group Print & Packaging (Pty) Ltd, and I would cover for him during his frequent visits to Mobeni at the time. There were no mobile phones to track us down then – he was “in the storeroom counting the liquor stocks” or suchlike.
