It is with great excitement that I announce that, with effect from 1 September 2021, Shave & Gibson Packaging (Pty) Ltd has acquired the complete paper bag and wrap business from Counterpoint (Pty) Ltd. Shave & Gibson has been a majority shareholder of Counterpoint since 2019.
These combined businesses of paper bags and wraps will continue to trade from the existing Hammarsdale factory, as a separate division of S&G Packaging (Pty) Ltd. In the future, all sales will be handled by our packaging key account executives, who will be familiarising themselves with the new product lines.
For a decade prior to our investment in Counterpoint, we had been considering establishing a greenfields paper bag business. We are encouraged by the potential of these products as the movement from single-use plastic packaging to more eco-friendly products accelerates. We foresee significant opportunities for this division, and we look forward to expanding this product category as an additional offering through our existing packaging supply channels, and particularly for our QSR and retail customers.
We welcome the new S&G members from Counterpoint into the S&G Family.
